Growing pains and hopefully a few learning gains. | Not running a grifting campaign with a mailing list, but I'll still accept your $1 donation. | Mutual aid, of course.
Outside temps are lower than we're used to (in this area) right now, but it's still muggy & uncomfortable for many.

If you're able, keeping a small cooler stocked with bottled water in your car &/or on your person during the summer is an easy way to help care for your neighbors, ya Okies.

Now's a really good time to learn how to grow your own food.

Go buy local seeds. Grow in containers, bags, raised beds.
Locate a seed library and/or community garden near you.

Whatever you can do.
We can't rely on systems not meant for the community.

Great news! The Oklahoma Senate Judiciary Committee voted 5-3 to pass SB 601, a bill that pauses executions in our state until June 1, 2027 and creates a death penalty review task force.

It now heads to the senate floor. Contact your state senators to vote YES on SB 601!

I wasn't funny enough to be an SNL cast member. (I'm still not.)
But Jimmy Fallon also wasn't funny enough. (He still isn't.) And look at the career he's had.

Losing Nex upended lives in and beyond Oklahoma. There's a profound grief in marking 1 year since Nex died with the conditions that killed Nex having only worsened. I'm grateful to @leximcmenamin.bsky.social for the care with which they told this story, and gave space for our community to reflect.
a year ago 16-year-old Oklahoman Nex Benedict died after a bathroom beating. in the time since, we've lost more trans kids, while losing federal trans rights.

how a community is holding itself together after years of living under Trump's current anti-trans policies at the state level @teenvogue.com

Saw eggs priced for over $10 a carton at a grocery story yesterday.

This is a good time to learn new skills and nourish community because the rich and the powerful are not going to save us. Not because they can't, but because they don't want to.
