I’ve been crashing out about this since Sunday and I’m still not over it

Like even if it’s 10/10, best season of TV ever, it can no longer work as one story atp because S2 was told so terribly

It doesn’t make sense here. I’ve seen people saying “well Ellie was just hiding her feelings.” Bro. If HBO Ellie was doing that this whole time to this extent, then she is a sociopath.

I really wanted to save my judgement for the end of the season. But now we’re 4/7 episodes in, and idk how they’re going to turn this around with the time they have left.

I loved Bella in S1, and I think it’s bizarre that they’re just…wasting her?? Like we KNOW she can play Ellie’s rage perfectly, so why aren’t they letting her do it?? Not even the silent rage? Not even the depression? What is happening

And disclaimer, I have nothing against the actors. They picked such a great cast, and they’re doing their best with what they’ve been given.

It just makes me so sad that S2 is going this direction because these games mean so much to me. They’re challenging, they’re deep, they’re not in your face, and imo, they have some of the strongest female characters in media.

Like how are you going to do Nora’s death when you’re missing alllll the buildup that came before it? In the game, it is such a turning point for Ellie’s character, and the way she gets there makes sense. I just don’t see how we can go from THIS Ellie to that.

So the solution I guess is to just…strip it? Of everything that makes it interesting?
