Life is not short enough to drown out the screams of the people we didn't speak up for. Life is long enough to spend sleepless nights hearing the knocking from the coffins of those we didn't stand up for. The eye of the needle is far too small.
Sometimes I wonder which brain module is the impish asshole and if all the modules get into arguments over who gets to shine in any given interaction.

My 88 year old grandmother just called from her hospital room post-knee replacement surgery to tell us they weren't letting her out until after lunch and she's stuck in a chair with an alarm that will go off if she gets up. Thank you, healthcare pros, for keeping her safe.

I'm awful sad and really pissed that our second civil war, where parents and children, brothers and sisters, families and former friends will kill each other over the same damn thing: whether the wealthy can own people or not.
