Cicada of the day.
A freshly molted cicada hangs on a tree just above the nymph shell it emerged from. Its eyes are red, but most of its body and wings are still yellow from the molt.

Cicada of the day.
A cicada rests on the bark of a tree. The cicada is recently molted, but its abdomen is black, eyes are red, and wings are copper. The wings are slightly folded inwards towards the abdomen.

Caught a cicada mid-molt on my porch. Once they emerge, they unfold a bit and their color changes. There are quite a few out there today.
A light colored cicada clings to its empty shell on the side of a pillar on my porch. Its eyes are red, but its body and wings are light because it just emerged.

My husband mowed the grass tonight, but before he did, he came and got me so I could see all the cicadas before he scared them off by mowing. I snapped a photo of this one.

Finally home from Biscuits & Banjos. It was about a 10 hour drive, but well worth it. I hope that this becomes an annual event and we get to go back next year.
