The candidate is expected to further develop the pumps and work with clinicians at the Gregorio Marañon hospital (Madrid). They are pioneers in pediatric ECMO, and we have a swine model to validate our pumps.
This is a very "out-of-the-box" project, so a highly dynamic person is needed.

The overall outcome is much faster and cheaper DNA sequencing, hopefully enabling real-time patient NGS even in smaller hospitals. Huge shout-out to first author Yanzhe Qin for coordinating this effort, and happy I could make a contribution to understanding the fluid dynamics in this system!

and 3) DNA sequencing quality and precision remains good!

Surprisingly, this turns out to have many amazing advantages: 1) you don't need to worry about pressure drop (which is negligible), and therefore it can be easily scaled to large chip areas, 2) the mass transport is very fast (< 2 s) and efficient (5–85 better than traditional flow cells)

The 1st textbook introduction to fluid flows uses Plane Couette Flow, with "moving walls"... unfortunately, this "hypothetical" case is hardly used in practice, because how to move walls to control fluid flow in a practical way? Well, this has now been solved in the current work.

it's a parallel gravity pipette of course :-)
