He was a product of a society that didn’t care enough about him and hurt him and I really hope he’s resting well right now. He could be a real ass to deal with sometimes but I know that again, product of the system.

Like it’s just at a point where I’m like “yeah, he had been through so much and he was just suffering while he was alive so maybe he’s better off.” But the feeling that that gives me is one of utter helplessness, like there was nothing that could be done to prevent this and maybe there never was.

We were at a local bookstore last weekend and they had a shelf filled with the banned books from the list. It made me physically ill to see classic literature like To Kill a Mockingbird there, and all the books that helped me see many facets of life, societies, and other points of view. shameful.

Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse, Heidi by Johanna Spyri, and the River Ki by Sawako Ariyoshi are all great books in my opinion (I’m spreading propaganda for my favorite books)
