Autistic person with a long history of widely-varied special interests. Current/persistent ones: SciFi and fantasy, gardening, knitting/spinning/weaving, sourdough
"Why are there so many more autistic kids today?" There aren't - we've broadened the definition and have better early identification.

History and literature is full of misfits that meet today's definition of autism. We've always been here.

Matthew in Anne of Green Gables was autistic. Discuss.

Spread the word. Attend a march or call out sick if you can. I will be wearing blue as I am currently unemployed and live too far from Sacramento.

I've seen a lot of "yet another outrage" stories over the past 48 hours. Many have turned out to be false.

Before you hit "repost", do a Google search to look for corroboration. Flooding the zone with misinformation will end with people tuning out altogether. We can't let that happen.

Every white woman needs to be searching up the term "white woman's right to comfort". We do not get to step away, opt out, refuse to engage bc it is hard. Other marginalized folks don't have the luxury of being overwhelmed. We need to feel the discomfort and grief that comes with bearing witness.

Someone tell me that it's okay that I can't do more than throw a few bucks at the ACLU for now. I lost my job in Dec and am looking for work, plus I'm trying to get a small business started. I do not have the mental/emotional bandwidth to go activist, and I hate that.

I'm overwhelmed by what's happened in the past week inside the federal government. It's not just at the top; the people that keep things running have been removed and replaced by Project 2025 adherents/flunkies.

I'm sickened. I'm heartbroken. I have no bandwidth to do more than despair.

When you're unemployed and looking for work, Mondays are the WORST. You've been able to shove All The Things to the back of your mind for two days, and now it all comes crashing back as you make that first cup of coffee. You don't have a job - you have to find one.
