Nog even over dat Calibri-verhaal, want ik vind het contrast tussen de aanpak van de VRT en de NOS leerzaam.
NOS opent door Rubio’s “te woke”-frame te herhalen in de kop. VRT opent met context over wat er feitelijk bestreden wordt, zonder dat anti-woke frame eerst te herhalen. Zo kan het dus ook ✨
Reuters NOS Nieuws • gisteren, 17:58 Rubio wil Times New Roman terug, lettertype Nederlander 'te woke' Het is waarschijnlijk inmiddels ingeburgerd bij Amerikaanse ambtenaren: het gebruik van het lettertype Calibri. Dat wordt sinds januari 2023 gebruikt voor de officiële communicatie van Amerikaanse diplomaten en overheidsinstanties. Maar minister Rubio van Buitenlandse Zaken wil er vanaf, kiezen voor Calibri was volgens hem "een verspilde stap op het gebied van diversiteit". Gisteren verzocht hij alle diplomatieke posten in de VS om het oude Times New Roman-lettertype weer te gaan gebruiken. Calibri is slachtoffer geworden van de Amerikaanse "strijd tegen woke", kopt The New York Times. De ontwerper van de Calibri-letter, de Nederlander Lucas de Groot, reageert verbolgen op Rubio's besluit. Te informeel en te inclusief: ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in VS schrapt lettertype Calibri en beveelt Times New Roman Dominique Fiers wo 10 dec. De regering-Trump laat geen kans onbenut om komaf te maken met beleidskeuzes die tijdens het presidentschap van Joe Biden zijn gemaakt. Zo loopt Trump niet hoog op met concepten als inclusie en diversiteit. Het door de Democraten nagestreefde DEI-beleid, waarbij D, E en I staan voor "Diversity, Equity and Inclusive culture", voor raciale rechtvaardigheid en gelijkheid, sneuvelde dus al snel. Waar de Blinken-administratie bewust de keuze maakte om alle communicatie van het departement in het toegankelijkere lettertype Calibri te laten opstellen, vindt de huidige minister van Buitenlandse Zaken zo'n diversiteitsmaatregel volkomen zinloos. Marco Rubio beval zijn ambtenaren om vanaf nu alle teksten op te stellen in het lettertype Times New Roman, wat volgens hem veel professioneler oogt.

My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.

Theoloog hier. Er is niet zoiets als een joods-christelijke cultuur. Die term is bedacht als propaganda om Amerikanen te motiveren om ook in Europa te vechten in WO2. Tegenwoordig is het ook propaganda, maar dan anti-islamitisch. Ik zal dit blijven herhalen.

Ik begrijp niet waarom Segers met Duk in discussie wil. In de regel steun ik het idee dat je in een democratie met iedereen in discussie moet gaan, juist met mensen waar je het mee oneens bent. Echter, actoren die desinformatie en haat in het publieke debat pompen, diskwalificeren zichzelf.
