I'm honestly convinced they think that "mining" means just digging down a few feet, hitting a giant blob of mineral X, and hauling it out. Just no concept of how orebodies exist in rocks or that refining is a thing.

Yep, I was involved with verrrry early stuff for Nankai, which would have used the CORKs.
I think it was the JFAST drilling leg (may have been a rapid response cruise) that put in the vertical cable strings to look at stuff.... reasonably sure those are up near the Tohoku source area.

I think some of these are also vertical instrumented cables in collapsed boreholes (basically core mud, put in an instrumented cable, and retract drill string to collapse the hole). You can put strain gauges and other sensors at various depths of interest.

The autosave files also vanish....but I got lucky that something had been saved from like 6 hours ago so I didn't have to start over completely.
I hate everything about this shitty freelance job.

Something with permissions and a refusal to save the file...it then deletes the original file too if you close Word (I forgot this and closed it 🤦♀️). It's happened to me before and it's infuriating. I just had to reconstruct my letter and reedit ~1/3 of the manuscript, which was easier the 2nd time.
