Morning! Great morning for statewide Dems, GA PSC candidates & ATL D2, but not so great for City Council Pres & Marietta mayor race. I'll be writing a longer post-mortem article, but here are some initial insights on the Atlanta muni races:

I'm running out of steam and will be calling it done for tonight. Fulton County is running very late with their EDay returns - usually by 11pm.

The Council Prez race is still too close to call. But, other than if we get some numbers in the next few minutes, we'll find out tomorrow morning!
November 5, 2025 at 4:45 AM
Oof. This is a tough one to report. With all precincts reporting in #Marietta, Tumlin has won over Foster by 258 votes. 😢

@samformarietta.bsky.social ran a damn good campaign, has an incredible future ahead of him, and I know we'll see him in elected office in the not-so-distant future.
November 5, 2025 at 4:43 AM
#Marietta update: We have one precinct remaining for EDay votes: 4C, where Tumlin had a 174 vote advantage. Currently, Foster has only a 48 vote lead.

It's going to be tough for Foster to overcome this precinct's election day votes, if they arrive at the same proportion as early vote

Another quick update on the Foster race in #Marietta - it's too close to call right now. Things have shifted a bit in favor of Tumlin.

There is one precinct where he has a considerable lead but has not reported EDay voting. Foster has one "partially reported" precinct where he is winning
November 5, 2025 at 4:02 AM
City of #Atlanta races still have 50k city-wide votes to count, so nothing is settled just yet!
November 5, 2025 at 3:40 AM
In #Marietta, we have two precincts remaining with Foster currently in the lead. Precincts 6B and 4C. This race is going to be very very close.
November 5, 2025 at 3:30 AM
In #Marietta, we now have 8 precincts reporting out of 13 with Foster now leading 51.66% to Tumlin's 48.34%.

Of the 5 remaining precincts, three are winning in early vote by Tumlin, and two by Foster.
November 5, 2025 at 3:24 AM
50k more votes to go, and Overstreet and Rohit are tied, after Overstreet had the earlier advantage.
November 5, 2025 at 3:21 AM
For the Atlanta City Council Presidents' race, it is also too early to make a call. Usually Dekalb and Fulton release the rest of their votes closer to 11pm
November 5, 2025 at 3:09 AM
In other contested municipal races in #Atlanta, Post 1 At-Large, Michael Julian Bond is cruising to victory, D2's Kelsea Bond has claimed victory, D7 & D11 are likely headed to a runoff...and for the rest, more returns are needed.
November 5, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Taking a closer look at the #Marietta mayors' race, all EV votes are in, and three of 13 precincts have reported. Of those three, Foster won two, and Tumlin one.

6 of 13 have an EV lead by Foster
4 of 13 have an EV lead by Tumlin

So, it's still even-ish, but the advantage is tilting towards Sam
November 5, 2025 at 3:01 AM
These results are literally astonishing. Without DeKalb reporting, we have Dems leading 59.5% to Reps 40.5%.

I think we're seeing margins that were beyond what anyone could have expected. In Cobb early vote, Harris won @ 56.4%, while Dem PSC is @ 75.5%, +19 pp. ‼️ Just incredible.

Yall. Georgia hasn't elected statewide candidates for state offices in 22 years.
There are counties going blue in Georgia that NEVER vote for Dems.
This is a BIG DEAL.

🚨BREAKING: Atlanta Press Collective has called both PSC races for Dems 🔵 Johnson and Hubbard

We are still in early vote, but in EV, I'm seeing weaker margins in Strong Rep 🔴 counties for Republican PSC candidates than Trump received in '24

In ga2025.civicfs.app/georgia-psc, I have a tooltip where you can hover your mouse to see the 2024 margins to compare

We have some more data for PSC District 2:

With Dem 🔵 powerhouse counties of Dekalb and Fulton not yet reporting, we have Dems Johnson & Hubbard leading by ~55.5%. Cobb advanced reporting has concluded.

Analysis shortly...
November 5, 2025 at 12:54 AM
And we have confirmation from Cobb that all Advanced Voting ballots have been counted, so the results of the #Marietta mayor's race will come down to Election Day results.

And we have our first results back from the City of Marietta mayor's race with @samformarietta.bsky.social against incumbent Tumlin at a near tie, with Tumlin leading by a single vote against Foster.

Foster is leading in East Marietta precincts, and Tumlin in the West

And again, these are early results based on EV, but I'm also seeing heavily Republican counties like Polk, Pierce, and Brantley with weaker 🔴 majorities in the PSC race.

This is a weak initial signal, but one to watch tonight
November 5, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Looking at our vote distribution by county, we're seeing some red counties, such as Tift, Baldwin, and Wilkes that voted Trump in '24 now are recording EV results with Dems leading...
November 5, 2025 at 12:27 AM
And we have our first results in for the PSC race with Dems leading 62.7% to 37.33%, with nearly equal vote totals between the two Democratic candidates.
