That’s a great way of putting it. Unfortunately that happens a lot to disabled characters- they become tragedies whose only purpose is to further a nondisabled characters’ arc.

I think the narrative frames Lestat’s decision to leave as a noble choice in a lot of ways and it’s one of the most ableist aspects of the books. It actually happens multiple times in the series, where leaving a sick loved one is shown to be the correct thing. I hate it.

100%. As someone who is disabled and has had mental health issues and has been left by loved ones… it really is the most painful abandonment. And you spend the whole time wondering what it would be like if you weren’t sick or you could power through with a smile.

I always felt like Lestat leaving Nicki was him giving up on him 😭 this makes it hurt more 😭

I watched this when it came out and then it got immediately memory holed/taken off the internet by Starz. The writing is not amazing (and at times pretty sex negative for a show about sex?) but he’s good as are the costumes- designed by our buddy Lex Wood! She knows her way around the 18th cent!

The person who posted that photo just meant they wrapped the current scene. We have no indication that it was a season wrap for either of them. I think it was probably just kind of an emotional scene and they came out of it with the hug. I wouldn’t worry!

Oh got it!! Thanks that makes sense.

Wait can you clarify what you meant here? I’m interested and I don’t understand what you were trying to say. Did Anne find the Louis/Armand relationship too compelling or not enough in the movie?

People always want to smooth over disabled anger but there’s a lot to
be angry at! Grieving yourself is a very specific chronic illness experience and no one else really gets how maddening it can be.

Love this absolutely heart breaking idea 😭

I always end up writing stories where people are having deep conservations on roofs, there’s something about them as liminal spaces that capture longing and nostalgia so well. I feel like fire escapes are the perfect version of this for Daniel and Armand! I see the vision.

I have SUCH incredible beef with the novel this is based on (which everyone praises but I think is actually v sexist and ableist) it kind of brings me joy to hear the movie sucks 😂

This is so true! Marius finding Pandora’s note later on that goes “actually you were right, Arjun is evil and abusive” feels so tacked on and like a blatant lie to make Marius look better (and to justify the racist assumptions made about Arjun)

This part takes me out so hard 😂

I think when you are experiencing chronic pain it often takes the form of just being *constantly aware*. Pain is your body asking you to pay attention! I believe you when you say it’s pain or that something feels wrong.

I’m probably not the sample size you want for this questions but I am literally aware of all of my joints constantly because I have EDS and at any given time at least five of them are out of place 😂

I think Marius’s relationship with caretaking is his most interesting attribute. He wants to take care of the people in his life but he does that by controlling them. I feel like he exerts extra control over Bianca after he is recovered bc he was insecure about the way he had to rely on her.

I would love it if we do see some past DM this season so that there’s two past (contradictory) narratives of Armand through Daniel and Lestat’s eyes but even if they don’t do that I think moving him off the chessboard in 2026 is smart.
July 5, 2025 at 1:58 AM
I actually think it’s so smart dramatically to have him be mia in the present day. It lets us get more povs of him like we did of Lestat and it lets him come back and tee up an emotional arc in season 4/QotD bc it creates conflict with Daniel.

I think so! Seems very like Armand to recast him from the romantic hero to the clown archetype imo
