Demoralize is a great example of an offensive ability that doesn't require wielding any weapons. You can simply broadcast to the enemy ship, and attempt to turn their crew against them. Don't underestimate the power of propaganda!

Demoralize. In a ship-to-ship battle, spend one of your ship's actions to speak to the other ship and attempt to demoralize the crew. You must make an aplomb skill check. On success, the enemy ship loses one action from its total action pool for the remainder of the battle, as your words lower a crew member's morale. You must be at the bridge and have functional communications.

Stash is an essential Trick for a crafter on the go. I'm planning a video in the future that will cover how the crafting system works in detail, but in a nutshell, this Trick allows you keep making progress on your projects even when you are on a long journey in space.

Stash. When you are away from civilization, you still have access to materials you have stashed in your bags and pockets. Roll 1d8 to determine how many sessions worth of components you have. You can split these materials up among projects as you see fit. Once you have used this Trick, you cannot use it again until you have visited somewhere that your character can restock, such as a port or a town. This "restock" happens automatically.

Monster Monday: Sentries!

Sentries are bipedal drones used extensively by private companies for basic and routine security. They have limited language capacity, and are less sophisticated than anthroparians.

What I think is fun about Web of Lies is that it builds up fast momentum. It's very "high risk, high reward." It makes it easier and easier to keep lying, but the deeper you get, the more dangerous failure becomes. This is a Trick that could carry someone through an entire adventure.

Web of lies. If you have successfully lied to someone today, they are likely to keep believing you. You received +1 for every successful lie you have already told them today, to lie again. However, any failure is a critical failure. Upon failure, they will see through every lie you have told since activating the trick.

Medical Specialty is the pinnacle Trick for the Medicine skill. As a capstone it gives you incredible power, with each specialty feeling very distinct from the others. This is one of the capstone Tricks I am most proud of.

Medical Specialty. EMT: You can restore an ally's entire HP during combat. Both you and your patient must forfeit the remainder of your Actions for the round. Plastic Surgeon: You can drastically change someone's physical appearance. Toxicology: Your are completely immune to poison and disease and can treat poisons without equipment.

Hopeful pulp adventure with gilded buildings and zoomorphic spaceships.

QRP with your world.
A busy space port, in a glass art nouveau style building filled with plants. Outside the window, floating tall ships with green-tinted sails can be seen waiting. A zoomorphic space ship that looks like a tall ship, with green sails and a golden forcefield dome on top, full of plants. A person standing and shuffling a pack of cards theatrically. A robot on tank treads that looks like a snail, with plants growing out of the side of the snail shell.

Heliosail has plenty of Tricks that help in combat, but it also has a lot meant to help you solve problems in a less confrontational way. Nondescript is potentially very powerful.

Nondescript. You can choose to present yourself as forgettable, and unremarkable to a stranger. The target will not remember your name, or what you look like, outside of the vaguest details. They will also forget everything you told them in the past 10 seconds before invoking this Trick. If they are purposefully trying to memorize your appearance to recall later, you can contest their skill check with your Subterfuge skill. There is no limit to how many times a day you can use this Trick, but only 1 person is affected each time.

Colleagues is a Trick that would be incredible for an adventure that takes place somewhere the crew is familiar. It doesn't help with physical tasks, but it could be clutch for mystery adventures or other things that involve talking to a lot of people.

Old Beater is just so full of character. I think everyone can relate to the idea of something expensive, like a car, that is on its last legs but you can't afford to get fixed. Every time you drive it, you turn the key and pray. That's what this Trick captures to me.

What I like about Demo Derby is that it throws all the rules of space combat out the window. It takes not only a skilled pilot to do something like this, but a specific kind of character who is willing to throw caution to the wind.

Special Interest is great for role-playing and for gameplay and I have had a lot of fun with it as a player. My character is a member of a cult obsessed with Earth, and its been fun giving them a leg up on their weird hyperfixations. -Luna

As a designer and a player, I love abilities that are a bit of a monkey's paw. This is why Quid Pro Quo, in the Barter skill tree, one of my personal favorites. With this Trick, you're allowing yourself to be hit in exchange for a guaranteed hit on your attacker in battle.

Quid Pro Quo: In battle, you can choose to forgo your reaction and accept the consequences of attack. If you attack the enemy who just attacked you on your next turn, they cannot use their reaction either.
