Went to a book chat event at the library. Met one of them on the bus. She reads nothing but non-fiction. It was wonderfully awkward when I mentioned i have a tendency to hyperfocus on topics (she didn't seem to find that odd) and that my current topic is older Star Wars books. That was fun.

Apparently the solution to an essential government service that can't pay for itself isn't to fund it. The solution is to gut it #rip Canada Post

I've just discovered that Americans have such an obsessive need for control over their children that they think a 17-year-old should not be allowed to get a haircut without their parents' permission. Barbers aren't exactly asking for ID.

Sent a submission out yesterday. That's 11 out right now. Bracing for the inevitable rejections. It never gets easier. #writingcommunity

Been a while. Obviously nobody noticed, of course. I have 56 followers who probably just clicked on me randomly and didn't bother unfollowing. No idea if it's worth starting this again.

Finished an ebook, audiobook, and a jigsaw puzzle today. I know none of that is important to the rest of the world, but small accomplishments matter and I want to brag into the void.

I'm reasonably certain you only quoted me because you wanted to embarrass me. I just feel sorry for you for believing that your benign monthly marches matter. You're in Nazi Germany. The old rules don't work anymore. You're headed for civil war and Canada won't be there to save you.

I love following book bloggers on Instagram. At the same time, I have to deal with the fact that I can't read everything, but I can't read everything.

Considering a new story for the first time in a while. It's going to be a about my "real" job and I hope I can include some humour in it. Usually, when I'm funny, I didn't plan it. It just happens.

@susiedent.com Finally got around to Modern Tribes. Thought you might like the educator word we use in some parts of Ontario to describe a high energy kid who make not always follow instructions: "busy"

I admit it. I unfollowed someone on Instagram because they did that stupid tapping thing during an unboxing video. I'm sure the goal of the tapping is to make the object seem more enticing or create anticipation. I just find it distracting.

I just performed a miracle. I went to the library to return some items and look at picture books for research. I didnt take out any novels because I have three unfinished ebooks on my phone right now and a stack of unread paperbacks. #Reading

Was brave. Shared my picture book story with the writers group. They liked it.

Threads is full of people pretending their opinions are unpopular because .... edginess? The last one I saw was not only a very common opinion on social media, but also a legal requirement.

I don't have much faith that I can find an agent for my novel, but I might have a chance with the picture book story I'm working on. One of the nice things about querying a picture book is that researching comp titles is so much easier.

I've been in @alicefraser.bsky.social writers group for 2 years now. Joined her Patreon when I got a tax credit that was supposed to be for food and now I can't imagine my Sundays without talking to my writers buddies from all over the world.

Apparently it's now political to not like a word, regardless of the reason you don't like it.

A few months ago, I asked a creative writing teacher if he would be willing to read the first chapter of the book I want to publisher and tell me if he thinks anything is missing. His feedback could be boiled down to "It's boring, write something else." #WritingCommunity

I love my cat, but she really doesn't understand being on school break.
