People are reading AI-generated synopses of books and then claiming they read 100 books in a week. This is how the abolition of books began in Fahrenheit 451: classics were condensed into five-minute summaries for those too busy to do the reading. Later came the burnings.

I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future.

But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.

Idk man but when the administration that tried to reject humanitarian aid for Los Angeles when it was burning tries to justify their illegal military occupation by saying they aren’t going to let LA burn it kinda sounds like bullshit

One of the most irritating things is people whose privileges and lack of decency allow them to simply not care about the world and the people in it and who then make a moral virtue out of being above it all. They're the type of people who'll excuse anything just to keep a peace that suits them.

everyone deserves human rights.

trying to carve out exceptions because 'its complicated' is just trying to subvert the principle. either everyone gets them or no one has them.

i accept that life is complicated and there are many difficult situations and nuances.

but core ideas are simple

One of the (many) problems with media rn is that the news is like “Trump proposes this thing” and then everyone goes “that’s terrible I hope not” and then it gets blocked by Congress but people don’t always hear about that so Trump supporters will go “SEE YOU’RE REACTING NOTHING BAD HAPPENED”

I had very few concerns using TikTok while it was owned by ByteDance

I have a lot of concerns if it's owned in total or part by a US company

Okay who wants to come over, get drunk, and perform Shakespeare as God intended
My most pretentious opinion is that the language of Shakespeare actually slaps, and is pretty accessible if you find a decent audio drama or screen adaptation. If you invite a few friends over for drinks and a Shakespeare-reading, you will have the time of your life.
