✨PROUD PI POST✨ At our annual IHN Summer Symposium Friday, #CASILab grad student Mike Shen gave a great flash talk, and then my team got 1ST and 3RD PLACE for best poster presentations! Congrats to my RAs 🥇Grace Salloum and 🥉Jack Carroll! I am so proud of the hard work you all put in this summer!

Mike did an incredible job in his first science talk! Can't wait for this data to be published so we can all chat about it. :)
The 3rd flash talk is Creighton PhD student in the #CASILab, Zhiying (Mike) Shen. His presentation is titled, "Neural Dynamics Underlying the Development of Semantic Processing Support Language-Specific and Domain-General Cognition."

Really excited to share the latest #CASILab publication that is my grad student Mike's first, first-authored publication! 🥳 We show how hearing loss relates to alterations in auditory entrainment, and how these changes are impacted by hearing aid use. Check it out!

Alterations in cortical 40-Hz auditory steady-state response dynamics in children with mild-to-severe hearing loss are related to hearing aid use
Abstract. Children who are hard-of-hearing (CHH) show greater variability in language and academic outcomes than children with normal hearing (CNH) through

My most favorite week of the year! 🎉
#IHN is one of the leading #neuroscience research institutes using #MEG technology in the world!
Today, we kicked off our 3-day #MEGbootcamp to train new #gradstudents #RA & staff on this powerful instrument.#neuroimaging @heinrichs-graham.bsky.social @giorgia-picci.bsky.social @tmi-lab.bsky.social

Super proud to say the #CASILab got to ring the bell 🔔 yesterday to celebrate the end of data collection for one of our studies! Our team recruited almost 140 participants from 20 different states and completed over 800 hours of testing, including #MEG, #MRI, neuropsych, and audiology exams. Whew! 🎉

The NIH by charts: It will not be easy to replace funding frozen and terminated by the agency.

It is by far the global leader in biomedical funding, and, as many have told me: an absolute gold standard in how to review and fund research.

The first, first-authored paper from one of my grad students (Go Goose!) and the newest CASI Lab pub is out now! We found distinct age-related changes in WM-related oscillatory dynamics that meditated improvements in both verbal and nonverbal ability. Check it out! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40051330/
Distinct age-related alterations in alpha-beta neural oscillatory activity during verbal working memory encoding in children and adolescents - PubMed
Emerging imaging studies of working memory (WM) have identified significant WM-related oscillatory events that are unique to each phase of working memory (e.g. encoding, maintenance). Although many pr...
