okay so the answer to question 8 (short test) is A, but I put C because I can’t go to my doctor to go tested, and I have no idea when that might be possible.

i don’t do an exercise “program” any more, i just try to mix it up and do a lot of different things. swim, weights, yoga, walk…

before long covid, it was bike, hike, walk, run, yoga, capoeira, swim, kayak.

just … get activity, most days, enjoy it, and enjoy feeling fit and strong.

are so big.

i keep reminding myself of what rabbi tarfon said:

"you are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it" (pirkei avot 2:16).

yet i keep thinking that i am not doing enough.

and i keep wondering, is there *anything* i could do, that would be enough?

you’re actually in the situation.

and now i know what i’d have been doing in berlin in the 1930s:

reading the news, trying not to freak out, and feeling completely helpless.

yes, i can contact lawmakers, yes i can vote, yes i can use my voice as best i can.

but it’s so little and the problems…

long covid: i don’t need it every day, but when i need the handicap tag, i NEED it. when i don’t need it, i park elsewhere. when i need it, i’m SO GLAD i have it.

i saw him in a political roundtable in 2015… he was doing that thing that students sometimes do on final exams where they rephrase the question, and then they talk about the question a little, and then they paraphrase the question again to conclude, but without actually articulating a single idea.

i get shoes repaired if possible, rather than buying new, and i buy the best ones i can afford so they’ll last longer. but i think probably the ones i currently own won’t last to the end of my life.

i’m currently using a couple of my dad’s old belts (i had to punch some extra holes) as well as some i bought myself. i think my newest belt is nine years old; i may never need to buy another belt.
