What I do myself to not deal with crap like retroarch is I use a gtk4 app named Cartridges, Its pretty simple, But is imo so much better then retroarch, Its like a shortcut manager, Only problem is not having controller support...

A lot of the Criticisms of F-Droid seem very minor and non-issues, Your point about not being able to Automatically install updates is legitimately a flat out lie, I myself am using android 16 with the official android apk from the website and yes, you can automatically update.

It might be an Electron issue or permission issue, opening the app through the terminal shows me some weird errors and for some reason the bad performance issues are gone in the graph view
