Congestion pricing would be awesome, but we can’t wait for everything to be perfect to build more homes - people are dying on the street today, and the vague threat of more traffic is a very small price to pay.

That’s what makes SB79 so great, it upzones exactly where we have the capacity to support more units, around major transit stations :)
This will increase ridership, leading to more investment in the infrastructure, leading to more capacity!

To go with its unique land use and planning, the US has the worst fire safety in the rich world. It has the worst police response time. It has the worst vehicle fatality rates. The US policy of sprawl is objectively unsafe. Zoning isn't killing the neighborhood character. It's killing our neighbors.

In the meantime, Battery EMUs are clearly a better bridge technology than Hydrogen EMUs. Hydrogen requires costly fueling infrastructure that will be abandoned; battery can be charged en route using strategic progressive electrification, and charging stations double as future catenary substations.

A gondola running from Los Angeles Union Station to one of our biggest tourism draws is so transparently good for the environment, and here's the state's preeminent environmental law delaying it. Thank goodness we exempted infill housing from this silliness.

Vacancy tax feels like it would solve a lot of problems. I don’t know enough about the feasibility of that, but it would be so great to use it to incentivize more small businesses
