It's time to dig out this classic Bud Neill poem, and a favourite 1920s image of Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow University...

Winter’s come, the snow has fell
Wee Josie's nose is froze as well
Wee Josie’s frozen nose is skintit
Winter’s diabolic, intit?

I'm looking at the three Glasgow Council by election results from this week (all retained by Labour), and it's a bit shocking - Reform? Coming in from nowhere to third place?
At the expense of all the big parties, by the looks of it? Glasgow... What's going on?!

Right well, I was never in the Other Place so I don't know the form.
How does this platform work? It seems that people say things, and other people like the things, but nobody replies to the things.
Where are the conversations?
Are we all just talking to ourselves?

Here in Scotland it's been sub zero for a few nights, but the sunshine is still bringing some wasps to the feeder. (Yes, I feed wasps!) I've never found a definitive answer: do worker wasps die in winter due to a short lifespan, or do they just starve to death? Anyone know? Got some diehards here!

Writers... I'm old, but I understand that the publishing scene is changing. Anyone self published an eBook on Amazon with good results? It's beginning to look more attractive than a lifetime of long waits and rejections! Any sage advice?

Interesting graphic. I wonder if the relatively low figures for the 16 - 24 age group compared to the group above reflects the general stagnation of the independence question in recent years? Seems clear that we have to keep engaging the young folk - Scotland's future is obviously in their hands!

Anyone know if there's a starter pack for Scottish or UK publishers of poetry and/or short stories? All you enthusiastic people are making me think I should be getting off my lazy arse and putting myself out there!
