In my neighborhood, we celebrate 2 important events between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day:
The arrival of the trilliums, and the arrival of the blackflies! To celebrate, I like to hike through the woods while singing my favourite seasonal song!

There’s a great Canadian app called “Buy Beaver” (I know, eh?! 🦫) which has recently been updated to allow users to select countries to support and/or countries to boycott, by scanning bar codes as you shop. It’s free, and easy to use.

The lunar eclipse was much more beautiful than my phone camera could capture. The eclipse was set to a most haunting soundtrack: the rolling, bellowing echo of the waves under the ice in Georgian Bay, punctuated by the call of a barred owl.

Lots of packages now have a maple leaf, but don’t say ‘made in Canada’ or ‘product of Canada’. There are some good apps out there to help you check. I like But Beaver.

The moon of the crusted snow, aptly named. It was +5*C so of course I went for a walk in a winter coat, t-shirt, and shorts!

Grocery shopping only took a minute or two longer, but I managed to get a cart full of Canadian products, and one from the UK. The only item I had trouble with was lettuce: instead of the iceberg labelled ‘product of USA’ I chose Romaine from California- at least they’re a blue state!
