I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

I have never felt so hopeless about the future of the US and I know I’m not alone. Each day we are getting pummeled by the horrors that this administration is unleashing. I cry for all of those who are living in fear, pain, and uncertainty. I cry for us all who have a conscience.

I have spent most of this day avoiding the television, social media, and humans. Sleep coupled with the company of my adorable dogs have been balm to my soul on this lousy day.
