Internationally published author of twisty thrillers. Unpaid cat & dog publicist. I would rather be reading.

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Editing is my favorite part of the writing process. I’ve provided feedback for friends and through writing festivals, but I’m thinking of expanding. For those who’ve hired freelance editors or book coaches or taken on projects yourself, was the experience positive? Would you do it again?

End of the year plans: hide under a blanket and read as much as possible.

My cat Poppy thinks she’s the reason for BEFORE SHE FINDS ME’s nomination for a Golden Poppy Award. After the “accident” on the stairs, I’m letting her think that. (Hence the “golden Poppy” photo in case she trolls my social media.)

Ok, now I have 20 followers!Ummm… I mean I have DOUBLE the followers I had last week. (That sounds much more impressive.) So, my 20 friends, here’s what the cover of my next book looks like. Excited to finally be able to share.

Just a reminder I've a new book out and it has suburban folk horror and an apple cult and creepy homemade masks and the seductiveness of selfish evil OH HEY also if you're in PA / NJ / DE, I'll be at the B&N in Montgomeryville this Saturday, 11/11, at 2pm. Check out my book or I die in the abyss!

So for all 10 of my followers 😂… this is cool, so I wanted to share here. And it got its fourth starred review this week, too, for the audio version so… a good week for my little pregnant assassin book.

There is no power on earth for authors like word of mouth. Especially with the death of Twitter, so many of us have lost huge chunks of our reach. So please, if you love a book, tell your friends and talk it up on your social media. No voice is too small, every single word counts. And thank you!

This photo from 1969 of a Gen X baby being contained in a trash can while his mom enjoys some crocheting goes a long way in explaining why our generation is the way it is.

Brain at 3 am: Time to wake up!
Body: No, time to sleep.
Brain: But we have lots of totally useless stuff to contemplate.
So they compromised and apparently I’m going to be a zombie today.

Couldn’t decide if my first post should be of my books or my cat sticking out her tongue. So why not one of each? (Though Poppy’s expression is in no way an editorial review. Unless it is. Because, cats.) #cats #author
