This painting depicts Sansa Stark a character from Asoiaf. She appeared in a vision as a "maid with purple serpents in her hair". I potrayed her in a hairnet made of snakes, because she wears a hairnet at some point and it's relevant for the plot of the book.

"Don't tell me you've only now noticed that I'm left-handed. I've seen the way you look at my hands," Varuna said before stepping away slightly before blocking Akkar's attack. "I've been admiring the rings." "Then which one is your favorite?" Akkar couldn't answer that question, he could however draw the prince's hands from memory, veins and scars included. "The one the Queen gave you." He was dead again—sword through the heart. Varuna lifted Akkar's chin with his sword. "I have one from my father. None are my mother's." He cocked his head to the side. "I just slashed your throat." Akkar wondered if the prince was suggesting he talked too much.

"Then listen to me instead, love. Don't waste my time—we don't have much." Varuna reached out, caressing Akkar's cheek with the back of his hand. "Maybe it'll be easier for you if you don't treat it as a plea, but as an order. Hurt me, love. In whatever way you want to." The pure determination in his eyes made Akkar desperate to cause pain to the prince, to touch him exactly the way he wanted, to treat him without respect just for a few hours. After all, who was he to deny him? Just a mere contractor, now a traitor in some way, who was about to choke a person he swore he was devoted to. Akkar was about to lay his hand on one of the gods walking the earth.

Instead, Varuna took his hand, walked him through the ruins of his palace—the walls were crumbling, rubble surrounding them at all times. No one minded as if this place was meant to stay this way like a ruined temple of a forgotten deity. Varuna might've been the prince, the ruler of this land, but no one seemed to treat him as such anymore. His influence over the people wasn't enough for them to listen to him, to even take care of the palace where he spent most of his day. The bedroom was no less ruined than the throne room, the big bed standing in the middle and the ceiling over it covered with hundreds of cracks like a spiderweb. Varuna smiled and shrugged, a resigned expression flashing across his face. "Don't wait, don't be gentle with me. I don't like it when people are," Varuna said, his muscles tensing as he sat up and reached for Akkar 's hand only to place it on his neck, his fingers resting right next to Varuna's gills. The prince wasn't scared—inciting maybe, inviting. He wanted this, whatever he was asking for, and Akkar thought he could give it to him. "I don't want to hurt you."

His face betrayed no amusement, but it sparkled in his eyes the same way his jewelry reflected the light. "My ex partner used to read the dictionary to me when she wanted to annoy me. Maybe that's why she became a linguist." Varuna tilted his head at that. "She's also familiar with your field of study?" "She was the one who got me into researching old Takahan with the focus on writing systems. She'd be a better addition to this team, but… I'm here because of her fucking me over," he said, the curse staining his lips. "I'm sorry." "What did you research before coming here? If you could tell me in detail." "Well there's a lot of jargon that doesn't concern your highness, but we focused on the… what's the word—transitional period between Aquan and old Takahan. She focused more on etymology and I more on writing systems."
