Which is fair! Since he's the founder. But he hasn't been involved for 15 years now.

Yes, I'm curious about the other 2.0 sites! I do know that when I lodged a private complaint to Chris Baty in 2008 or so, it was addressed in the public NaNo challenge the next year and consistently thereafter. I respect him a lot! Unfortunately I think his name has become synonymous with NaNo.

I was a NaNo ML at the time that Chris Baty left, and then a few years afterward. He has had zero involvement with the organization since that point, which was around 2010. I have some criticisms of my early ML-years (2007-2010), but they're nothing like what happened in the last couple of years!

Where is this screenshot from? I don's see it on the NaNo2 site.

Chris Baty sold the organization and has had no involvement since 2010 or so. Grant Faulkner also left a couple of years ago. These sound different than the staff from a year ago.

I put the info I posted here into a thread: bsky.app/profile/did:...
Applying for a Canada Council for the Arts literary grant?

The old ones have been retired and new ones have launched in their place. Artistic Creation is the new $25k grant (max is now $75k) and Micro-Grants is the new PD grant (still $10k but we can send 3 applications per year!). #CanadaCouncil

For your discipline, you can now choose "Literary arts, publishing," or "Disability arts, Mad, Neurodivergent arts," or whatever best describes your discipline for that specific grant application (and which jury you want to read it).
October 2, 2025 at 8:52 PM
At the top of your application you'll see this question: "Choose the artistic practice most closely related to the activities in this application." This is where you choose your discipline, which will determine which jury will read your application.

There's no need to apply for a specific profile now. (In the past, you'd apply & wait 1-2 weeks to get approved. No more!) On the portal, simply choose the "artist" profile and then fill out your application.

I responded elsewhere in the thread!

Literary grants are still there--they're presented in a different way now. I've started 3 grant applications this week & chose "literary writer" as my discipline for each. If you have more Qs, I have a grant consultation biz for writers, incl. an AMA call: www.yolandehouse.com/services/gra...

Do you mean you're looking for the "literary writer" profile? They have gotten rid of those. Instead, now when you start a grant application you can choose your discipline. That determines the jury who will read it. So everyone fills out the same grant application now.

They need to watch the videos by former trad wives who are living out of their cars, taking minimum wage jobs, etc. bc those husbands decided to trade in their wives for younger models, AFTER the trad wives did everything at home so he could be successful in the workplace.
