I'm incredibly happy with how well these pieces all fit together, given that 3 weeks ago I didn't know what a Dado is. and if you said the word "rabbet" to me I'd probably assume you're making a legoshi reference.

I also did some organizing with the leftover scrap wood. The drill storage in particular (or, more accurately, the lack thereof) was driving me NUTS.

This is my first woodworking project, but I'm learning a lot and enjoying it.

Originally this was supposed to be a refurbishment of a friend's old crib that he built, but it ended up being better to rebuild from scratch. I made blueprints and just went from there
Some new lumber stacked on the old, worn-out crib's baseplate. A couple of power drills stand ready to the side A work-in-progress picture of one of the barred sides. The bars are straight and vertical, even without the top connecting piece. A completed side, with all sides screwed and glued down. The bars are as well secured as I can imagine myself making them

Seriously, this thing takes up so much space. It's a good thing my friend @lunarkoneko.bsky.social doesn't mind keeping it in her room, since she's a huge baby anyway

It's primarily from 2x4s but has some special cuts and gusseting for future parts. A photo of the crib headboard (or footboard) in progress. Note the closely-fitted grooves cut out of the 2x2 vertical posts, so tight that the glue squeezes right out when screwed in. regarding hitachi wands and their short lifespans - just make your own strain relief for the cord. it makes them last so much longer
