I like to think I am a thoughtful, kind, pragmatic fellow on my best days. On my worst days, I'm just another jerk. Wishing you a blessed day.
The proper response to anything Trump says, especially his unhinged rhetoric, is "Quiet, piggy. The adults are trying to clean up the mess you made."
November 20, 2025 at 4:52 PM
I'm no political expert, but it seems to me to be political malpractice to not turn "Quiet, piggy" back on Trump. It succinctly makes the point that Trump is an unserious President who only looks out for himself and should not be taken seriously. Quiet Piggy should be the left's Let's Go Brandon.

Thesis: The central driving factor of American politics in the past decade has been the fact that it has never been easier to stay ahead in America, but it's never been harder to get ahead in America. The richer are getting richer by the minute while everyone else is drowning in debt and despair.

Friends, my heart is heavy today. Tomorrow is the 24th anniversary of 9/11. The sight of people leaping to their death to avoid burning to death is seared in my brain. The first responders who rushed into the towers over and over again, often to not come out the last time.

The same reason I detest the pardoning of January 6 protestors, the same reason I oppose our horrific immigration policy, the same reason I think the participants in Epstein's crimes should face a reckoning is why I am horrified by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Wrong is always wrong.
September 10, 2025 at 8:59 PM
There's plenty to criticize about Charlie Kirk's views and his impact in society, but this is not the time. Violent attacks on people are clearly wrong and right now my only thought about Kirk is that he recovers fully. It's not okay to shoot people you find odious. Period.

Unpopular take: while Trump has done numerous things that deserve impeachment and I'm not sure he really knows what he is doing vis-a-vis Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he may manage to bluster his way into a negotiated peace that both sides can agree with.

Posted February 21.
In the month since Trump took office, monthly inflation is higher than it's been in the last year-and-a-half, real wages have gone down slightly, employment is flat, and the price of gas & eggs has gone up.

How long until they woodchipper the Bureau of Labor Statistics & replace them with toadies?
August 2, 2025 at 4:41 AM
Posted April 17. Trump's autocratic instincts are predictable.
My prediction is that in that scenario, he blames the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which puts out employment data. Calls them corrupt, run by Democrats, out to get him. Fires people there, insists their numbers cannot be trusted, White House puts out its own fictitious data to make Trump look good

Seems pretty obvious to me that Trump is going to (easily) win his battle with Musk. Granted, Musk will dominate the incel vote, but Trump will crush Musk among the MAGA normies. Trump is a genuine cult figure; Musk is drug addict who is in way over his head.

"We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty." -- John F. Kennedy, 1961 Inaugural Address

Is that still true of Americans in 2025? We are being tested.

Demographic splits on Trump's approval in the coming weeks will be interesting. Expect to see a lot of erosion of support among 55+ Americans who are seeing their retirement accounts decimated. Less erosion from younger Americans who aren't yet experiencing the higher prices and job losses to come.

5-6 years and millions of dollars in project funding? Nah, how about no funding, "a few months," and AI assistance to convert tens of millions of lines of COBOL code into Java. I am sure nothing will go wrong.

DOGE Plans to Rebuild SSA Codebase In Months, Risking Benefits and System Collapse
Social Security systems contain tens of millions of lines of code written in COBOL, an archaic programming language. Safely rewriting that code would take years—DOGE wants it done in months.

I have a friend who served as a government attorney in NY/NJ for years and is immensely more qualified than Habba for this position. On the plus side for him, though, his knees are not nearly as worn out as hers are.
This will be an unmitigated disaster.

A sad result of the Trump era for the USA is that we will have united other places like Canada and Europe (in opposition to Trump) and Russia and North Korea (in thanksgiving for Trump), while America keeps ripping itself further and further apart from his divisive scorched earth tactics.

Unpopular take: I'm not happy with the CT, but I'm also not convinced Schumer is wrong that the shutdown might have been worse than the CR.

Also, whether Schumer was right or wrong, Trump is the enemy. He's the guy ripping us apart and spitting on the Constitution.
