#RunningPunks looks like the third British Invasion is underway! Very excited to see this guy next spring!

Two weeks off did not help with post-marathon sciatica, so I figured I may as well resume running, and I actually felt better after the run.🎧 “Get Me to the World on Time” (1967), by the Electric Prunes. Had to do something to celebrate the Dodgers’ World Series Championship! #RunningPunks

As I build my base back after Berlin, I’m going to try running again. After a year of run-walking alone, it’s time to rejoin the #SouthBayRunnersClub! 🎶 The Clash, Stray Cats, Billy Idol, and some 1960s for fun: “Nobody But Me,” by the Human Beinz.😊 Congrats to Chicago marathoners! #RunningPunks

#RunningPunks, meet @jrdarchivist.bsky.social, the author of the definitive, heavily illustrated history of punk fanzines in DC, Keep Your Ear to the Ground, new from @georgetownup.bsky.social, acquired by Hope LeGro! Today’s 🎧: “California Paradise” by the Runaways #BookSky @aupresses.bsky.social

#RunningPunks, I finally ran the #BerlinMarathon on 9/21/25 after a 4-week hiatus recovering from shin splints. Barely made it under the cutoff, but I did! Lots of punk music along the course. Berlin Wall Memorial, East Side Gallery, highly recommend. share.google/RYDk30xTbZmb...

Sunday long run just before dark, taking procrastination to new heights. Finally had some energy. 🎧 Santana, Doors, Iron Butterfly, Byrds, Yardbirds, Animals, and we can’t forget the Electric Prunes! #RunningPunks #RunSoCal Reward: steak and Bordeaux.

Today’s run has to be called Dusty Trails in honor of the duo and their eponymous 2000 album. #RunningPunks Slow run-walk but longest run so far since 2018, the last year I ran a marathon. Today’s victory was recovering from a trip while crossing a road. Looked like Charlie Chaplin on roller skates.

Meandering early morning 11-miler to Nyhavn (New Harbor—only 400 years old), Copenhagen. No song today to symbolize the fact that Trekz headphones lost power midrun.😊 #RunningPunks

Humid sweaty swamp run before the Academy of Management conference in Copenhagen. There is a punk song about “the Danes.” If you know the artist, remind me in the comments.😊 #RunningPunks. Saw these deer on the trail—they had to run along it because the brush was too thick for them to cross.

Four-mile run/walk through the neighborhood trying not to think about so many things. Today’s song is one of my all-time favorites: Paranoid by Black Sabbath. RIP Ozzy. Funny thing though, I heard a double-time punk version years before I discovered the slower original. #RunningPunks

First 25-mile week in forever, capped by today’s slow-as-snailsh_t 10-miler. I would have been slow even without the photo ops because I was trying out a new watch and accidentally sorted my playlist by artist, which meant 3 miles of Santana ‘68–fast guitar but slow beats. Plus hills. #RunningPunks

Nothing like unpacking a box of books that have not seen the light in four years, with the intention of donating them, only to find they are all classics that you still haven’t read! #BookSky @gmakoff.bsky.social

Juneteenth 2 mile run. #RunningPunks Today’s song: “It was a dark and stormy night and the ship was rockin' on the open sea
… From Bristol to the Ivory Coast, then on to Jamaica
Down in the hold there is no sound we're taking rock'n'roll to America”—Mekons, “Amnesia” (1989)

#NoKings Day 9-miler along the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. Naturally today’s song is “God save the Queen, the fascist regime…there is no future, in England’s dreaming.” (1977)

No run in this post, but I have to share: While in Portland for a conference, out looking for dinner, I walked by a music venue and…Elvis Costello is playing! I was able to buy a ticket on the spot and got the farthest seat in the house, but it’s great! #RunningPunks #Spontaneity

Peaceful 3 mile loop around the Willamette River in Portland ahead of a conference. Beach Boys on tap. #BrianWilson #RunningPunks

Spotted in the classifieds of this issue—“Apology to the World”—this is why I still read the most anachronistic section of the papers.😊

2 miles by the bluffs. California has microclimates. Ours is known as May Gray and June Gloom, but then we’ll have sunshine July to December. (Right now I’m in a microclimate of someone’s overwhelmingly sticky 1980s perfume.) Today’s song is “Walking in LA”—Missing Persons. 1981. #RunningPunks

Training for Berlin starts now! Beautiful day for a run on my home turf, 6 miles 5:1 run/walk. Song of the day: (We Don’t Need That) Fascist Groove Thang—Heaven 17 (1981). Every old is new again! (Except me.) #RunningPunks #runsky #SouthBayRunnersClub

State #37: Lincoln Half Marathon, followed by a flight of Empyrean barrel-aged craft beer and some antiquing at Burlington in the Haymarket. Fabulous support for runners all around. Super nice folks. #RunningPunks
