To be fair, I wouldn't mind having my very own windmill!

I wouldn't mind that!

I loved this episode! Had a wry smile at the bit about sharing family history findings with relatives and noticing their eyes starting to glaze over! Yes, I've been there! Fascinating stories and I love Simon's enthusiasm

Does it mean someone who is regarded as a brother but isn't in the biological sense, like a step-brother or adopted brother?

But you look so adorable!

Brilliant! I mean, great to solve the mystery, clearly not for poor Joseph. Interesting that he left you a clue in that census that led you to his death certificate.

The death certificate might give a clue, then. Perhaps they put that as a reason why he couldn't work?

According to Google, 'deceased hip' was an actual medical condition but you wouldn't expect that to appear in the occupation column!
December 9, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Was he still around in 1901?
December 9, 2025 at 12:37 PM
Sorry, Jane. You were clear, I just didnt read it properly 🙄
December 9, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Oh sorry, I read 'third' for some reason! Second one looks like deceased something!

I'm all for Christmas presents to oneself, and these are gorgeous!

Take care, Jane. Plenty of rest and fresh air. Lots of friends here, all wishing you well 🌻

I enjoyed this episode and loved how excited Dr Wanda was on finding out about her g-grandfather's tattoos! It's those fabulous little details that make all that research worthwhile! They really help to turn records into people in my opinion 🙂

Good that you felt up to getting out and about in the sunshine. We were lucky too, here in Essex. A trip to Maldon where we spotted these Redshanks and a Curlew. Not great pics - but it was lovely

Same here! I had never done anything like it before, and felt well out of my comfort zone, but it was a great experience, and I still can't quite believe I did it!
Looking forward to listening to your episode and all the others in series 10

Well, there's my plane crash project; my Catholic nuns and priests; Auntie Nene's mysterious photo - 'from George with love' - she never married, who was George?!; photographing and cataloguing some family 'artefacts'... The list goes on! And I've just signed up for a course!
