I've just seen this quote by AA Milne, and it has made me extraordinarily happy!

I've been transcribing this recently acquired diary written by an #EastYorkshire ancestor of my husband's.
It's been very interesting and raised many questions! Lots more to discover, although it is diverting me away from my main project!

Well, this has kept me entertained over a wet and windy weekend! Needed my little magnifier on a few occasions! #familyhistory

This arrived in the post today, sent by one of my husband's relatives. Lots of names and addresses and interesting entries to investigate. Going to keep me busy for a bit! #FamilyHistory

In case anyone is unfamiliar with the concept of handwritten letters in the post, may I recommend a visit to the excellent #PostalMuseum in London! Includes a ride on the tiny underground mail train - very exciting! - and lots more

This is one of my favourite photos featuring a dog. In with lots of family photos from my husband's side. Unfortunately, nothing written on the back 🙄 so I don't know anything about it.

Have you looked at this? Don't know if it has what you are looking for. I haven't thoroughly read it myself as I haven't done much with wills so far - other things on my plate at the moment!

Found this on Ancestry. Could this be him?

We had a seagull tap on our window when staying at a seaside hotel for our wedding anniversary. Apparently, if you accidentally left your window open, it would come in and steal the complimentary biscuits from the tray in the room!

My great-aunt, Teresa Simpson, worked for Oldham library services for 44 years until she retired in 1947 when she held the post of Director of Library Services - at the time, the only woman ever appointed to a chief official's post in Oldham.

#GenHour. Not much family history research this week, but a lot of reading, especially this excellent book. #familyhistory #WW1 Found husband of an ancestor who was awarded MM and Belgian Croix de Guerre listed.

Just finished reading this after finding husband of an ancestor served with the 13th Battalion, E. Yorkshire regiment. Turns out he was awarded MM and Belgian Croix de Guerre. More research to do...
Excellent book #WW1 #AncestryHour
