#didyouknow Vauxhall Gardens was on the River Thames and many guests reached it by boat. It was one of the few places where different social classes mixed in Regency London. The gardens had dining boxes and entertainment galore. There was even a famous mechanical cascade. #booksky

For #mccrushmonday, I’m featuring Larkin Weston from the book I’m currently reading, Emma V. Leech’s “Debtor’s Daughter.”

Larkin Weston falls in love fast and hard and always has to help a damsel in distress but has gotten burned before. Will Mrs. Magdelina Finchley be different? #booksky

Don’t you just love this mug?! It was a gift from one of my friends who is a fellow Regency romance lover. It’s not quite the same thing as being at the Jane Austen festival in Bath, but it still got me in the spirit. I used the Fortnum & Mason tea I had from the last time I was in London.

I’m featuring my very own Captain James Hughes from “A Lady’s Dangerous Secret.” He’s a stern but dashing captain who’s always there for Lady Charlotte at just the right time. To save her life, she must marry an older duke but can she fight the undeniable attraction between her and James? #booksky

Thank you Fresh Fiction for featuring “A Lady’s Dangerous Secret” as a Fresh Pick! @oliverheberbooks

Readers will love the Regency romance story of Charlotte and James and the scandalous secret Charlotte keeps. Think plenty of plot twists and surprises. And of course, a HEA.

I had to follow up last week’s #mccrushmonday of Jacob Eversea with a post for Team Isaiah.

My heart breaks for Isaiah and the hard choices he has to make. At this point though, I am Team Jacob even though he has his flaws as well. I chose Jacob because he can love with abandon.

Drizzling was first seen in France in the late 1700s and was known as parfilage. It then moved to England. Ladies held drizzling parties. They could easily chat while showcasing their delicate hands as they picked the gold and silver threads from fabric.

Would you drizzle as a hobby?

Ugh, this novella gave me all the feels. It wrecked me in the best way with such an angst-filled love triangle.

Are you team Jacob or team Isaiah?

“There’s an overarching mystery, but the romance takes center stage, as it should…I was shocked and in such a good way. I would have been pleased with the predictable ending, but this ending was so much more satisfying.” Steph, Goodreads review.

“These past few days had been some of the most painful ones he could remember.” Wait, or was it the past several days? Or the past week?

Writing tips I wish I could tell my past self: keep a calendar for your story’s events. It helped me organize “A Lady’s Dangerous Secret” better.

I love historical romance because it transports you to a different time period and encourages you to imagine what it would have been like (with artistic license of course).

Why do you like your favorite genre?

Would you eat jellied eels?

#didyouknow They were a popular dish in Regency London’s East End because eels were plentiful in the River Thames & cheap. When they’re boiled & cooled, a jelly forms.

Pineapples represented wealth in Regency England because it meant a person could afford to import them or own a hot house.

Did you know? Swans are usually monogamous but not all the time. They separate/reunite, cheat, or divorce. Seems like the makings of a romance novel to me!

Did you know? Dangerous decorating: 19th century wallpaper sometimes contained arsenic, which they only found was harmful when families began to get sick.
