The recent attack at the IPAS centre in Drogheda is shocking, but not surprising. Nor is the silence from those who shout the loudest about protection of women and children.

The truth is today's #budget2026 VAT cut at a cost of €700m to the taxpayer would have helped my mum's now closed restaurant only a little.

What would have helped her & so many small restaurants a lot more was a sliding VAT rate. Where the likes of McDonald's get a lot less reduction & smaller 1/2

On this Budget Day, let's talk about childcare spaces or the lack thereof.

The State needs to become an Early Childcare Provider while working with private providers. This was the model we had started building that this Government is squandering.

Some lighter content! Tomorrow is Mid Autumn Festival or "Moon Festival" as I used to call it as a child.

And what better way to celebrate than eat mooncakes! Especially homemade ones from the little one!

A BIG thank you to all the lovely messages & three asks:

1) Check your breasts!

2) Write to the Minister of Health to ask her to fund cancer supports & reduce waiting times.

3) Support the various breast cancer charities this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Time to build baby build!

Long have we pushed for it since we need better long term sustainable transport not short terism!

1/2 Recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month so PLEASE check yourself. And if you find anything no matter how small, please go to get a referral.

I wrote about my experience in @irishtimesnews yesterday 👉

People should not be fooled by the spin on the National Development Plan Review.

Behind the noise about increased spending on transport, the Govt is abandoning the critical schemes that will help us reduce our emissions, like energy innovation, offshore wind and retrofit.

Yesterday we members of the Advisory of the National Action Plan Against Racism held a discussion with civil society on racism & met with the EU Commission Lead on Anti Racism Michaela Moua. The Government is failing in our fight against racism and needs to prioritise the implementation of the plan!

Love Ireland?
Then hate racism!

Delighted to see so many familiar faces at the anti racism rally in Dublin today.

Ireland is not full and Ireland is for all!

This week, Greens brought a motion demanding Government stay on TRACK (Timely, Reliable, Affordable, Contactless, Key Targets) when it comes to Public Transport. To establish a new Public Transport Passenger Experience Office & €10 billion increase in capital for public transport in the NDP review!

According to last census 23% of all HSE nurses & midwives are migrants.

27,000 construction workers are migrants.

84,000 migrants work in hospitality.

Ireland's services are held up by migrants & Irish people. So do NOT believe the lies when people say "immigration is why we have no services".
June 10, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Government must explain its delay in asking Attorney General for legal advice on including ‘services’ in Occupied Territories Bill!

Stop delaying the Bill. People are being slaughtered, we must stop delaying and push back on the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

2/2 Also needing challenging is this Government's inability to be fair, compassionate and effective when it comes to those seeking refuge especially children who have integrated.

A failure by this Government to provide fair and just process is not a failure by the applicant.
June 8, 2025 at 9:53 PM
Thread 1/2: For those who need reminding Ireland is for all!

Our health service, construction, hospitality industries are functioning on the back of migrants so if you hear rhetoric like "Ireland is for the Irish" make sure to challenge it.

The Department of Expenditure forms taskforce after taskforce. It needs to stop with the talking-shops.

When our water and sewage infrastructure are coming apart at the seams and our transport infrastructure has been delayed, project after project, we need to stop talking and start delivering!

Have you experienced misinformation online?

What has become apparent from recent years especially after the Carlow tragedy is that misinformation online is rife. But what is the Government doing? Not very much!

But what can they do? Turn off Recommender Systems! And curb Real Time Bidding.

Since Minister Patrick O'Donovan thinks the city is so great and uses the facilities so much, maybe him and his government can start funding the city's services properly!

If he doesn't want Local Authorities to resort to a tourist tax, then start by funding Local Authorities properly!

Earlier today, the Court of Appeals gave a judgement in favour of Dublin City Council on the Strand Road cycle lane.

This is a significant moment in protecting the advancement of sustainable transport and being ambitious to tackle climate change with our public spending from Central Government

A plan to give Government approval to reforms to the short term letting sector was dropped from the Cabinet agenda at the last minute.

In the current Housing Crisis we need to stop putting our homeless into hotels and tourist into homes!

With the Dublin Transport Plan that so many of us fought long & hard for, we will finally see the pedestrianisation of Parliament Street this summer!

A big thanks to Traffic in @dublincitycouncil.bsky.social

More space for people cause #StreetsAreForPeople! And in this weather, it'll be amazing!

2/2

A) Protecting tenants from eviction.

B) Increasing our public Housing stock.

And most importantly C) Reduce Homelessness.

If nothing is actually off the table then the Government needs to fund the scheme properly. Anything else would be as they say in the Dáil recently "ag insint bréaga".
April 8, 2025 at 9:19 AM
We've heard Taoiseach say that "nothing is off the table when it comes to housing" and last week we heard "we will do more on housing".

Then WHY is this government gutting the Tenant in Situ scheme across the board? A scheme that has proven to work. A scheme that helps with 1/2
