The number of times I've watched this on multiple platforms is obscene 🤣 I see the thumbnail and I have to listen to the down pitch 😭🤣

Absolutely check in with experts when unsure and do thorough research! The articles I listed above are a great jumping-off point for more data on coexistence measures. I'm an ornithologist from the dallas area so my specialty is mostly birds and whatnot (hence the two bird articles).

Should we be feeding any animals heavily processed foods often? Absolutely not. But we've reached a point where more research and education on coexistence is needed. It's a responsibility that's long past due.

Absolutely! This is a great example, from the national FWS themselves!

The two are related. If humans continue to expand then the solution is cohabitation. We have to find ways to exist beside each other. I guarantee this raccoon doesn't exist solely on a diet of donuts. But in survival settings, you don't say no to food. To say the issues are separate is irresponsible

This. That little wooded area where they could've foraged? It's now a suburban neighborhood with 200+ houses. The pond they'd get water from? It's under a shopping center parking lot now. Natural habitats are being relegated to miniature parks and reserves, resulting in fierce competition & disease.

Every year I have barn swallows nest on my front and back patios. This is the first brood of 2025 🖤

Quackery by Dr. Lydia Kang

It does a wonderful job of demonstrating how ever-evolving our knowledge of medicine, science, and our worldviews are, but also spotlights a few old remedies that legitimately DO hold weight even after thousands of years. Gave me a new appreciation for leeches!

I used to live in an apartment complex that had mockingbirds that would attack folks walking their dogs during the day. So I thought I'd be slick and walk mine at night. It very quickly devolved into a Friday the 13th scene, but every time I turned around, it wasn't Jason but a GD MOCKINGBIRD 😭

Also, the manuscript won the Andre Norton Gryphon award for best unpublished manuscript by a new woman writer in 1992. Before anyone comes for the publishing date as compared to when HP came out. ASFS was winning awards wayyy before HP

A School for Sorcery by E. Rose Sabin and its series is way better. I had devoured that book years before HP. It got me into metaphysics as a concept and into actual theoretical physics because of some of the concepts implicated. My copy has every inch of space annotated from years of rereading

Honestly, though. My sister and I screamed when it happened in the movie because we're mixed Indigenous. I'm suuuuper pale and no one clocks it for me and it's something that's bothered both of us our whole lives. We felt seen.
