A return on investment framework for evaluating the benefits of closing gaps in the active transportation network. A useful resource if your city is open to a sidewalk fee like Denver. Or to justify spending more on AT than just CDBG funds. But this ain't gonna create the political will, that […]

I won't go to the #trbam conference again for but it's super hard seeing the weekly news updates of white dudes getting awards and photos from the conference of rooms full of men, most of whom are white and of a certain age.

If your kid reports that they had to hustle out of the road so they don't get creamed by a left-turning vehicle when they have the green walk signal then the perfectly NORMAL thing to do is to get the location and time stamp and request the city's traffic camera footage, right?

Emerald Fennel, Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi's #wutheringheights is released on Friday. The trailer presents it at a romance and the cast list doesn't include the characters from the second half of the book.

If you want the Clif Notes to the story, read the lyrics of Kate Bush's song:

Out on […]

Are you even from Cape Town if you haven't had a masala steak gatsby? I will admit, I only got a parcel and chips from Cosy Corner on Ottery Road, but even my husband got a gatsby at Golden Dish on Gatesville Road and he was only in Cape Town for 3 weeks […]

Yesterday I had left-over pizza for dinner and the family had to suck it. I'm in hour 15 of making a lamb masala and the family is gonna have to suck it all week because it's too spicy for half of them.

Given all the work we do (thru the MUTCD) to ensure that our road signs and markings are safe and uniform nationally, having backup drivers that aren’t licensed for driving in America seems like a less-safe deviation than, say, some pavement art in curb extensions.

Marcia Blackburn was a terrible person when she represented us in the state house, and she's a terrible person now, but at least she won't be in the Senate much longer. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/nashville-furious-power-outages-republicans-say-woke-blame-rcna257338
Nashville is furious about power outages. Republicans say ‘woke’ is to blame.
As Nashville’s utility company struggled to recover from a catastrophic ice storm and its Democratic mayor ordered a review, some conservatives attacked diversity training.

If you work in transportation planning or design right now then I don't care what the question is, the answer is always reallocate road space to active transport modes using physical separation.
- how to accommodate active modes in tunnels? Remove a vehicle lane.
- how to increase safety? Remove […]

We've been working on an implementation plan for three weeks. I've written the executive summary and three major sections, 21 pages, plus the intro to the final section, a page. My subconsultant partner (two people) has managed 6 1-page activity descriptions and I've had to heavily edit them and […]

More #Bridgerton gripes. I hate what the Netflix show has done with Francesca's character. I know they wanted an LBGT+ lead, but they really picked the wrong sibling. In the books, Francesca enjoys a happy and fulfilling life clouded only by infertility. It is ONLY longing for a child that […]

The only thing I hate about #Bridgerton season 4 part 1 is the scene on the carriage when Benedict claims they are "only a few hours from London," which Sophie disputes with "look at the constellations" and then says "also it is going to rain."

So it's cloudy (drops fall almost instantly) and […]

The best Easter egg in #Bridgerton season 4 is the running joke that Benedict has atrocious French pronunciation. Luke Thompson grew up in France from the age of 2 and speaks fluently.

Reform got the third most votes in the last UK election, not too many votes behind the Conservatives in second. They were denied a meaningful role in government by the UK's first-past-the-post electoral system. This trend is concerning. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yv97e7j5lo
