Perhaps choosing Gaetz was a clever move. If he had been confirmed, Trump would have had an ideal puppet. However, his withdrawal allows Trump to pick another problematic attorney general who, while seemingly better than Gaetz, is still a Trump loyalist and shit choice. It’s a win-win for Trump.
