#scalemodels Getting started on my next project - Ebbro's 1/20th scale 1982 Lotus-Ford Type 91. I'll be building it as Mansell's #12 and will use Indycals decal sheet to correct the scheme.

Awesome but also kind of a bummer. My local IPMS chapter had the Fine Molds 1/72nd scale kit as a "same kit" theme contest for the February meeting and I just finished this one.

Had the oddest dream last night. I apparently had become a hugely successful captain of industry, so I used my money to build a modern replica of the SS Tashmoo to reintroduce excursion liners to the Great Lakes. I like to think that's at least a benign form of eccentricity.

#scalemodels This one was a special build for me despite being "just" a box stock build of Hasegawa's excellent Mini Countryman S All-4 kit because at the time I built it I actually owned a Countryman S All-4 in metallic black. Loved that car but lost it to a failed head gasket.

#scalemodels one of the aftermarket's biggest names in 3D Printing, Iceman Collections, posted this test shot picture today from Moebius Models. Apparently, Moebius has acquired the Galaxie Limited '46-'48 Chevy tooling and is planning reissues!

One of the things that probably best explains me as a racing fan is that I adore sports prototype racing, but I'm almost always drawn to midpack one-offs that never quite live up to their novelty or potential.

#scalemodels If there was one kit I can always point to for showing just what Tamiya is capable of, it's their 1/20th scale Lotus 25. This was such a joy to build straight from the box, and it's such a shame there was just the one production run.

#scalemodels One of the steps I genuinely get the most enjoyment out of is a nicely turned out interior in my models. Sometimes I luck out and I actually hit that goal.

#scalemodels Sometimes funny things happen. In this case, the car that was my reference subject for my build of Fujimi's Dino 246GTS has actually gone up for sale at Sotheby's. rmsothebys.com/ps00/invento...

It's also worth mentioning that it's a genuinely nice full-detail kit.

#scalemodels Following on the theme of 2024 year-end round ups, I'm actually quite proud of the year I had with seven completed builds. Posting them chronologically, the second three we see are my Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (Tamiya) my Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite (Gunze Sangyo) and my '66 GTO (Revell)

#scalemodels Following on the theme of 2024 year-end round ups, I'm actually quite proud of the year I had with seven completed builds. Posting them chronologically, the first four we see are my Nissan R33 GT-R (Tamiya) Morgan Plus Four (Tamiya) Ferrari 599GTB (Fujimi) and '67 Corvette (Revell).

While I'm still very pleased with the results and proud to have slain the beast, one of the biggest pains in the neck in modeling I've ever tackled was this Gunze Sangyo High-Tech series Ferrari 250GT SWB. The photoetch wire wheels remain a treat to look at each day, though.

Every now and then, I like to remind folks that if they want to read a manga that's beautifully written and positively luxuriates in its art, they need to read Kaoru Mori's "A Bride's Story"

Racing tonight and I've decided to give a try to setting up a new car for our GT3 division. Bucking popular trends, I'm going with a BMW Z4 GT3. I decided to add a couple of decals to dress it up before it hits the track tonight.

Revell's '37 Ford Coupe is a really fun street rod kit, and I had a blast replacing its TPI Chevy 350 with the 392 Hemi from the Revell Willys Street Rod kit. Paint is Tamiya Brilliant Orange under Tamiya Pearl Clear.

Given that you're probably working with a 1/25th scale kit when it comes to that Viper, what I'd probably recommend doing would be using one of Aoshima's 17" 1/24th scale wheel sets like this one (#05241) as that variance in scale will make up an in scale 18" which is one up from stock.

Wednesday nights I'm very lucky to get to continue to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies. I race slot cars at The Cave here in my hometown on the club's 1/32nd scale replica of Watkins Glen.

On this Revell '66 Pontiac GTO, I got the chance to try out 2K clear for the first time, using 2K from Cobra Motors. It was a really fun build and the combination of the clear and MCW Light Turquoise Metallic really worked well.

One of the best pieces of supermodified news I've heard in a while has come out of Sandusky Speedway. For years, Sandusky has been on a streaming blackout because of an existing deal with a regional sports channel. That deal is up and the 2025 Hy-Miler Nationals will be streaming on Racing America!

One of my favorite builds this year was this Dh100 Vampire in 1/72nd scale. The kit was from Special Hobby, Lebanese Air Force, Beirut in 1954. The build sits on the desk of my Grandma Ellen, who was the Lorain International Festival's Lebanese Princess when she was a little girl.

One of my favorite short track series - the 500 Sprint Car Tour - is going to one of the tracks I admittedly have some of the most mixed feelings about. It's an astonishing and historical place, but I'm not really one for holding my breath waiting for disaster on those big high banks.
