Belatedly logging completion of The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R King for the Intergenerational Friendship square.

That gave me 19 books covering 21 squares with one lonely bingo, which I'm pretty sure is mathematically a record.

My Hope entry was Greta & Valdin by Rebecca K Reilly. Not sci fi unless being set in New Zealand counts.

I finished The Entirely True Story of the Fantastical Mesmerist Nora Grey, by Kathleen Kaufman, read by Mhairi Morrison, suggested by the indie bookstore site indiebound.org

Pacific Northwest Nature square:

Puget Sound Whales for Sale: The Fight to End Orca Hunting by Sandra Pollard

Gives a good idea of the scale of orca hunting (and what happened to them) from about 1965-75. Kind of sensationalist writing style but still touching.

(Also fits the Washington Book Award square for the non-SPL/SAL version of the board.)

Probably the only thing close to unhinged was going to "computer enthusiast meetings" where we would ostensibly talk about BASIC programming styles but everyone knew it's where you go to get one of these filled with pirated games.

My Big Book for #BookBingoNW2025 is The Silmarillion, specifically the audiobook read by Andy Serkis.

This edition includes a new-to-me letter from Tolkien to a friend, outlining the story, mentioning the concept of "subcreators" like Feanor.

Disability square:
Against Technoableism -- Rethinking Who Needs Improvement, by @ashleyshoo.bsky.social aka Ashley Shew

This was a great read and it was concise enough that I think I'm going to just start it again.

(Interesting to pair it with Richard III this weekend.)

For the "Flower on the Cover" square: The Naturalist's Daughter by Tea Cooper

Cooper's books apparently stick with a common formula (Australian history, science, two women separated by time but with some connection) but it works.
