Ultimately copyright exists to protect workers AND businesses: letting AI developers sidestep the rules isn't just unfair in principle, it will create a precedent for further weakening of the law, enable further AI disinformation & impersonation, & catastrophically disadvantage creative careers.

I don't think you should, it's such a difficult balance for everyone! And I'd never want money to be the reason kids don't have access to events. Basically we all need more funding 🥲

Yep - sometimes it feels like publishing is powered almost entirely by gratefulness, and authors feel obliged to work at a loss just to ensure events are able to take place, when surely publishers should be taking on more of that burden. 😫
