So proud to support @ucu campaign rally for FE colleges. Attending a night school FE class at Burnley FE college, when I was on the shop floor, transformed my life. It’s shocking how FE lecturers’ pay has fallen back over last 15 years. Investment in staff is desperately needed.
FE transforms lives. From FE student at Burnley College to Shadow Chancellor.

John McDonnell MP: “We will be with you at every rally, every dispute and every picket.”

Thank you for your ongoing solidarity.

I stand with Ian Byrne on this. The government must fulfil its promise to introduce the full Hillsborough law. No half measures.

The amount of White Supremiscists that now openly post on twitter these days. I had 8 or 9 of them spewing vile racism at me over the last 24 hours or so. Most if them with profile pics and real names. It's scary they feel empowered to be this openly Racist with no fear of consequences. Sad to see

When Keir Starmer appointed Mandelson I said publicly it was a serious error of judgement. I’ve always been a supporter of the BBC in its role as a public broadcaster but the decision to invite Mandelson onto the Kuensberg programme calls into question once more its own judgment.

Over 50 MPs & MSPs have signed a letter to David Lammy, Secretary of State for Justice, urging him to engage with the legal representatives of the pro Palestinian activists on hunger strike. Given the seriousness of their condition the letter says it would be an act of humanity.

Today was the 24th anniversary of the opening of Guantanamo, infamous for its brutal torture of its inmates. For years we have campaigned with some success for the release of innocent detainees & yet 15 remain. Today in London we joined the worldwide protest demanding its closure

In case you missed it, Nigel Farage said Reform would vote against scrapping the two-child benefit cap because some of the families who will benefit include people who are “foreign-born”.

Imagine being so racist that you would rather keep 450,000 children in poverty.

A new year is a moment to reflect and we’ve been busy! 🎉

These slides highlight some of what we achieved this year. None of it would be possible without our friends and comrades.
As we move into 2026, our struggle continues and there’s much more to do.
Help us achieve even more next year.

Two points on defence:

1. Increasing defence spending overall is a distinct debate from military aid to Ukraine

2. People are right to be skeptical of western interventionism, but there are other circumstances in which a military response is necessary and just

Die Linke’s increased vote share shows you can win votes by offering bold economic reforms and being unapologetically progressive on social issues.

The anti-migrant BSW breakaway party was obliterated.

Our party - and emerging socially conservative factions - should take note.

From the outset the Met sought to ban pro-Palestine demonstrators from peacefully protesting.

The crackdown is an attack on freedom of expression & false claims of "forceful" behaviour are dangerous.

Charges must be dropped & the government must end this authoritarian exercise.

In the first cross-national comparative study, we examine 32M tweets from politicians.

We find that misinformation is not a general condition: it is driven by populist radical right parties.

Labour’s policy under Keir Starmer is to recognise the state of Palestine as part of the peace process. So I questioned the Foreign Secretary about how he will decide that the time is right. It’s clear to most that recognising Palestine now will help lay the foundations for peace and justice.
