Bijna de helft van alle Limburgers spreekt Limburgs, maar schrijven in het dialect hebben de meesten nooit geleerd. De gemeente Maastricht heeft daarom een app laten ontwikkelen om inwoners het Mestreechs sjrieve bij te brengen.ppYuri Michielsen, voorzitter van de Limburgse Academie, is een van de bedenkers. Het ging ons om het ontwikkelen van leermateriaal rond de spelling van het Maastrichts, maar dan niet op een traditionele lesmanier. Door het gebruik van de spelvorm hoef je niet meer op de klassieke manier spellingregels te leren of in een schoollokaal te zitten, zegt hij tegen L1 Nieuws.ph2Fouten geanalyseerdh2pOm te onderzoeken waar Maastrichtenaren het meeste moeite mee hadden qua spelling, is onderzoek gedaan naar teksten op een Facebookpagina in het Maastrichts met 20.000 leden.
