I mean, the Nazis did gas people with disabilities (and 'disabilities') akin to Hitler's. But I also found that comment rather flippant.

The piece is "Nazism at Night"

In case of interest, this is from a forthcoming piece of mine in Holocaust and Genocide Studies

Very drole;)

I have no issue with anything you've said, truthfully. I think it demonstrates the futility of name debates, heh

But the fact is that multiple actions doesn't mean multiple events. The Holocaust was also a series of shootings and gassings -- but not "Holocausts" (unless one wants to distinguish the Romanian part, which would be legitimate.) A crude analogy I know, but the point is fair I believe.

I don't disagree, which is why I refer both to Kristallnacht (the night) and the November pogrom (the extended events, including arrests).

And as a counter to your suggestion of using the plural: I think that obscures the centralised orchestration.

Good to exchange views on this, thanks!

Survivors often speak of Kristallnacht because it reflects the sudden change to their lives that occurred overnight. Names do not work in the way you suggest they do.

Hanussen is said to have coached Hitler in the area of public speaking. And yet, despite or indeed because of his firm right-wing political beliefs, he was shot by SA thugs on March 25, 1933. His body was dumped and only discovered a month later.

Me, okay, but what if I double the dose and do that only 3 times

And tragically receives thousands of views, and not just from those inclined to believe such nonsense, but also from people like me who, I assume for the algorithm, have a general interest in that stuff and are not already convinced. I'm not susceptible to it, but many will be :/

Don't get me wrong, I get that the optics look bad, but as someone in said position, I'd feel much happier getting such an honor plus $1500 minus travel costs than not getting such an honor!

In any case, it's a great award, so congrats on it, and thank you for thinking of ECRs :)

I mean, I could book flights for $1,500!
October 20, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Which one is that? I don't feel like I've started anything 😂

Aw man, USA based :(

but this tweet would make much less sense if the wider public was properly aware that the "Jews" being referred to in this tweet didn't see themselves as such.
