Pollster/wonk/data journalist. Feminist who thinks what we tell boys about being men explains a lot. Still an Atlanticist. Dan Burn is an excellent left back in the right system.
Now I’ve seen everything

What a strange comparison. “£3bn, or half the suspiciously large GDP of a small island with roughly the population of Lowestoft” www.nytimes.com/athletic/651...

Hello! Trivial thing but one I figure you'd want flagged: I'm not getting the optimal choice of starting xi, starts Dubravka at 3.0 over Sels at 3.4 (new issue to me just now so could be a gw2 thing) (always possible I'm being dumb and missing something)

This is very good. The Boomer idea that Millennials could buy a house if they only quit their avocado and coffee habits is understandable, because it *was true* for them. They did have to scrimp and save to buy them; they earned far less! It’s just scrimping & saving nowadays doesn’t touch the sides

Idk if this was a guy venting about women in an equivalent way it would rightly be called out as sexist.

It’s great that Robin is going to be kinder to himself. But that shouldn’t be dependent on knowing other people’s brains also work like this! There’s an implication that the label, knowing it’s not just you, is an important part of forgiving yourself for neurodivergent tendencies. It shouldn’t be!

In playing around with the stats also came across Patrick Wimmer’s absurd heatmap from RW which has strong Big Joe conversion vibes

Germaine Greer was still saying this in 1970 - this is from the female eunuch

Which is in turn the cause of the gender pay gap: women and men's pay tracks evenly until the first kid arrives. Then women take on fewer hours of paid work and men take on more.

Here's a good academic example of this cited in the Wikipedia entry for 'Reverse Sexism'

So what is the solution? I think it's obvious. 'Wokeness' has built impressive walls around the people it deems to be in need, but taken to indiscriminately hurling stones at outsiders from the ramparts. It should welcome men within those walls.

Boys and men are constantly, tacitly and explicitly, told that they're the bad guys. What are the attractive messages of the RW misogynists? That they're the good guys. That men are great. @mscaitlinmoran.bsky.social had this nailed.

Let's answer some of the responses. What do examples of this purported finger wagging look like?

So: I have a book on submission about masculinity and I think this is right.

He gives the game away here - the assumption that work is only a good social habit if you “go out to” it and wfh does not constitute “a full day’s work”. Clearcut example of the resentful wfh-critical boss bsky.app/profile/harr...

“Give us tax relief or we’ll make the England team even shitter than we already are”

We desperately need to remove private schools from the youth development system. It’s simple maths that we should dominate the sport - there’s an extremely obvious reason we don’t.
