We've been to Didsbury Pride! Photo taken as we waited to parade up Wilmslow Road. Despite the umbrella it did not rain, nor was it excessively sunny (I just thought it was a suitable prop). We talked to friends, had something to eat, and then we were tired so we've come home to flop.

My union, @nujofficial.bsky.social, is staging various vigils throughout today in memory of the journalists of Gaza who have been killed while reporting the ever more hellish situation in their homeland.

Oh, I see; I misread your opening paragraph as meaning that this was a recreation of the one surviving banner. I was partly confused by the fact that there is a replica of the Liberty/Unity banner (see below) though I have also seen various ones attempting to reproduce the one described (see below).

I thought the only actual surviving banner from Peterloo was the one in Rochdale's Touchstones museum - Liberty and Fraternity on one side, Unity and Strength 1819 on the other.

@johannestevans.bsky.social I am at Old Trafford watching tailenders Tom Hartley and Tom Bailey bat, rather successfully, for Lancashire against Derbyshire, and suddenly I think "They're TomTom! Johannes's cat is batting!"

Abby would like you to know that I have been away several times in April, and it's really shocking. Who knows what might have happened if her Uncle Stephen hadn't happened to turn up on those very days to feed her?
Also, she says it is your fault for allowing hot weather in your flat. Poor Tomtom.

As it is a fine, dry day, at the tea interval we were allowed on the field to inspect the pitch. It seems flat and dry. Lancs put Northamptonshire in but they are 326-5.

Happy Lancashire Day!
On November 27, 1295, Lancashire sent representatives to Parliament for the first time.
It took another seven centuries before this was officially celebrated, but I like the fact that our county identity is bound up with political representation.

Maybe they ran out of the orange-bordered paper? Apart from its whiteness, that looks very like the ticket I bought at a station last week.

Members of the former Afghanistan women's cricket team exiled in Australia have responded to the men's team's outstanding performance at the T20 WorldCup by writing to the ICC asking for help setting up a refugee team to represent the women of Afghanistan, and ask cricket lovers to share this letter
To Greg Barclay, ICC We are proud and excited by the achievements of Afghanistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. A profound sadness remains that we cannot represent our country like the male cricketers. We are asking the ICC to assist us in setting up a refugee team in Australia. We aim to represent all Afghan women who dream of playing cricket but are unable to in Afghanistan. Creating a team of Afghan refugees can give us a chance to play, coach and administer a cricket team without borders and allow Afghan women who want to represent their country to come together under one banner. Our goals are to develop and showcase our talent, give hope to the women remaining in Afghanistan and to draw attention to the challenges women of Afghanistan face. We want to recruit and train girls and women who love cricket, to show the world the talent of Afghan women and to demonstrate the great victories they can achieve if given a chance through the leadership and financial support of the ICC.
