Damn, wonder what @leahgreenberg.bsky.social and co. make of that. I’m no fan of AIPAC but that just sounds blatantly like antisemitism dressed up as antizionism (which, to anybody ready to pounce: YES they’re different but the Venn diagram is often a circle with these folks, unfortunately).

The intellect is strained by emotional investment in a struggle for which losing was always guaranteed as that investment requires the suspension of critical thinking. Boom, suddenly you're doing blood libel.

Depending on what you mean by “recent” (perhaps living memory?), all of Europe, parts of the Middle East and North Africa…

I think there’s a uniquely American version of antisemitism that lets the hate fly under most people’s radars because we’re just considered “white” when it suits people to hate us, and therefore it can’t be that bad; also, Christian ideas of religion don’t account for ethnoreligious identity.

Not sure what the cave is, but I try my best to remind people that have gotten a little too comfortable “criticizing” Jewish people that antisemitism is pretty much the original “-ism” that birthed every other -ism, which is why virtually every hateful ideology includes some version of it.

The whole podcast is super interesting, he’s incredibly articulate.
