A juvenile Cedar Waxwing perched in a pokeberry bush. It's in the process of swallowing a shiny black berry. Around it are a mix of green and black panicles of berries on purple-red stems and green leaves.

Had a very nice afternoon-evening excursion to see the Short-eared Owls again. Got a couple of nice snaps of them plus a gorgeous sunset to boot. #birds #raptors #sunset

We recently went looking for Short-eared Owls with advice from @jonathanfoodie.bsky.social. We got to see them interacting and hunting over a field. Awesome. Unfortunately they didn't come close enough for good photos. This Cooper's Hawk was much kinder and posed! #birds #raptors #TalonTuesday

Inspired by @carlbergstrom.com, I'm working on befriending 3 American Crows that frequent my area by feeding them peanuts or almonds and dog kibble each morning. This is one of them. #ThursJay #corvids #birds

For the #BirdOfTheDay I typically flip through my camera roll to find a photo that works. Today I used the challenge as inspiration to take a walk. Found this guy showing off his namesake epaulettes. The dry cattail leaf in front of him looks a bit like a sash. #birds #Staredown
