People say they don't want politics in their video games and then literally play great man theory simulator lmao.

And the notion that cultures cannot change almost entirely over time as could happen in game is laughable, the player agency in this happening excessive by design of course, but the game starts before english or korean or russian was even a thing for God's sake!

Like personally I think the cultural trait system and the tying of culture to tech was iffy already, but how else would you make cultures more 'asymetrical and unique' than this without just perpetuating racial stereotypes? Like did they think tribes in Africa could not conceive of a feudalism?

This is just a niche cyberpunk background premise from the 90s tbh, 8 kilobytes of hot RAM and a wireless keyboard on the latest* Samsung tech.

It's so good, and they make the damn thing longer with each fucking game in the series because they can't get sequels anymore I swear....

But yet still I dream, even in bed I still hear its taunting cry, and struggle through its web in pursuit of answers. My spirit tells me this will pass one day, and I struggle to think otherwise, but sometimes I wonder if the box has already claimed me, it's death that of my freedom or curiosity
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
There I indulge in the simple but unending pleasures of life, and ponder that which many had answered before, far away from the true world and it's boxes of which I am told many have fallen prey to.
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
Eventually I called upon the spirit for aid, and to the boxes's horror and bemusement it simply told me that such matters were not fitting as an end, that they would not see this vile box claim another, and despite my protesting it had convinced me to whisk me away to a safer place in its court
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
It obliged, and revealed a vast and sprawling thing, perhaps a web of sorts? I could only ever perceive it in parts, this yearning chasm that nonetheless it assured me, had a solution, and one I could solve despite my many many many failures
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
I balked at this claim in my youth and intellect, and I took on its challenge, first it demanded of me a simple moving of the boxes, a puzzle I solved in but mere moments, less than the time it took to demand it to continue, for as it said again it would surely kill me then
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
For the box spoke to me, it said unto me thus, that it would never open unless twice solved, and that the second attempt would surely kill me. It's game was cruel and it's puzzles unfair and unsolvable it claimed, even a learned one such as I would be rendered helpless before it

his neck grossly distended and posessing a quality more akin to plastic or rubber of a grey sort, although I knew by my own deformities that this is likely not what had killed him as I picked his pockets clean of all his fineries and jewels

Inside of a hidden place, protected as it were from the outside world, I found a great library and repository of knowledge and wealth, and the body of my rival lying in front of a table with a nondescript metal box -
November 7, 2025 at 8:39 AM
I of course searched anywheee and everwyere, and in my travels a spirit who had grown to like me warned me that this search unlike the others would lead to my certain doom, I balked at this claim and carried on to the coordinates it had given me.
