Good, but its still nonsense. A battery/PV with loadprofile matching the counry would make more sense. Thats more in day times with AC, but their load is actually fairly constant.

No, they have 6 reactors planned, and the French National Auditors have just reported, that the National finacial situation is not ready for that.
The first one should start building at 2027, but they do not even have a cost estimate, and thats not acceptable for the auditors.

Dans son rapport sur la filière EPR publié en 2020, la Cour des comptes a mis en évidence de multiples défaillances expliquant les retards et surcoûts des projets de réacteurs nucléaires de nouvelle génération dits EPR en construction ou en activité, notamment celui de Flamanville. Depuis, le contexte a significativement évolué. L’industrie nucléaire bénéficie d’un contexte international plus porteur. Le gouvernement a annoncé en février 2022 un programme de construction de trois paires de réacteurs EPR 2, éventuellement complétées ensuite par quatre autres paires. Un point d’étape sur la filière nucléaire et la mise en œuvre des recommandations formulées par la Cour était 2020 est donc nécessaire pour apprécier les conditions de mise en œuvre de cette politique aux enjeux de long terme considérables en termes financiers, industriels, énergétiques et environnementaux.

I have allways hoped for true GEn-IV breeding reactors and/or LAES.
But assuming solver/RE/Nuclear brings down energycost, then using energy to split and assemble all our waste into usable minerals would be the end goal.

So, this is an obvious development. VRE requires stronger grids, and runs with higher redundancy when VRE is performing, as the backup is still there.

So, this is an obvious development. VRE requires stronger grids, and runs with higher redundancy when VRE is performing, as the backup is still there.
