A year old when rescued, Challa is now 20! Rescued after we were alerted to an elephant that had been with cattle for 8 days! Today, Challa's an impressive – laid-back – bull, who graces us with regular visits in between his wanderings in Tsavo. https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/challa

Between 1964 & 2016, Africa’s elephant populations declined by 77%, primarily due to poaching and habitat loss. While elephants disappeared from some areas, their numbers rebounded in others, thanks to successful conservation efforts.
