This was a total labor of love. Weeks of digging through archival footage, conversations about top moments, asking colleagues to mine their memories for institutional knowledge I might not have known - was a very fun project indeed.
Fifty years ago, Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer brought you a novel way to watch news: a half-hour program, free of commercials, that aimed to tell one in-depth story per night. Over the next five decades, that show morphed into what we now know as the PBS News Hour. https://to.pbs.org/3L0sjyv

Supplement manufacturers have capitalized on the explosive popularity of diabetes control and weight loss drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound by flooding the market with their own pills, powders, drops and patches bearing “GLP-1” branding.
What to know before you buy a weight loss supplement on TikTok
Experts say supplement companies have tried to capitalize on the GLP-1 craze, putting the phrase in their product names, which can be deceptive.

For example, reposting this story that we just pubbed! A great use of Bluesky!
Along with Medicaid cuts and tax breaks, the massive budget bill passed by House Republicans contains a new program dubbed “Trump accounts” – government-funded investment accounts for every new American baby. buff.ly/bZutb1J
What experts think about the $1,000 'Trump accounts' for babies

This is true but it's also for reposting Good Media Content, my stories for PBS News in particular 😌
All this discourse about Bluesky being a bubble or not being a bubble or being a safe haven from Nazism misses the point. None of that is what Bluesky is for. Bluesky is for people posting reviews of Goose shows, shots of very mediocre-looking cats, and gay thirst trap pics.

My latest
Medicaid, the largest payer for long-term care facilities, covers around 2 in 3 nursing home residents, and reducing dollars to the massive, yet already resource-limited, program could have disastrous effects on older adults’ health, safety and quality of life.
What Republicans' possible Medicaid cuts could mean for nursing homes
Experts told PBS News that there are ways to ensure older adults get the quality and type of care they need, but most require more resources, not less.

If Medicaid is potentially on the chopping block, we should seriously consider who it serves and how. My latest for @pbsnews.org
A closer look at who relies on Medicaid
According to health policy experts, there may not be a way to fund the tax cuts proposed by House Republicans without cutting Medicaid.

At the heart of this matter is a key question of American democracy: whether, under the U.S. Constitution, the president has more spending authority than either Congress or the Supreme Court has ever previously permitted.
