Generations from now, when historians study this period where we have perfect understanding of the problem, and brilliant, readily available solutions with all the resources necessary to implement them, they'll study cases like this to try to figure out why we kept drilling holes in our lifeboat.

This seems to be a comprehensive dataset. I've just skimmed through but red meat consumption is down or stabilised across most high income regions; chicken is up a lot.

Isn't meat (especially red meat) consumption falling in a lot of high-income countries? That would imply the relationship between income and meat consumption is not linear but n-shaped, so even without policy intervention, livestock numbers will inevitably decline.

(For non-locals - to be "sound" is one of the most important qualities to aspire to in Ireland.

For locals, the Soundabout is where the slip road from the South Ring to Togher meets the flyover coming from Forge Hill, and onto Pouladuff)
