Is a T20 World Cup coming up? If so, good time to go back and T20 Big Bash with Scorchers and Webster play last 2 tests...especially if Ashes done at end of this test.

Labor Party should never be about trying to hold power for decades, but rather use their power whilst they have it to make great change that benefits the nation for decades to come. Good changes aren't easily reversed.

So you could withdraw the $450k in June of a year, set up new super account, contribute $120k into that account in June, and then $330k in early July...and effectively have moved your whole super balance from taxable component to tax free component. Just an idea for some of you to ponder.

And rules currently allow you to make non-concessional contributions (contns that you aren't claiming a deduction for) of up to $120k pa (or $360k in one go to cover 3 years at $120k/year) - and you can do this up age 75 without having to meet a work test. 3/

The beneficiary may only get close to $380k.
But, as there is no maximum withdrawal limit in pension phase, there is nothing stopping you withdrawing 100% of your super once retired and super in pension phase. 2/

Aust super is an internal tax haven for the wealthy (protected by the human shield of ordinary working citizens who glean small benefits from that very system). And better than an external tax haven, the govt will give you money if your super is invested in a certain way (ie. Franking credits).

A doctor tells you to get your affairs in order - one of the first affairs is taking your money out of super if your beneficiaries aren't dependents, and your super balance has significant taxable component. Tax Planning 101

Self-funded is highly successful spin of Costello/Howard. Every "older Australian" is self-funded in some form, and every one of them receives govt assistance. Never let someone beat you over head with "self-funded" just because you receive a govt pension.

I remember watching the MPs asking questions and Mr Murdoch saying how humbled he felt about it. Shortly after he was asked whether he had checked whether such things were happening with his Aust. newspapers and he simply stated "No". So, not really concerned about it in reality.

CBA boss doesn't say excessive executive pay and bonuses could be seen as taking shareholder money.

Relaxing of corporate regulation under this US admin, and permission to grab a quick buck/big bonuses by the way their own US admin is behaving, means at some stage things fall over again. The GFC is part of reason we have the politics we have today, all around the world!

A no-brainer...that might be the wrong terminology!

Remember these insights they give us whilst in opposition...and make sure they are brought up in election campaigns so they never get power. Hastie maybe running for PM!!!!

The very type of person you hope is employed at the ATO. Many are from my experience. Its the ones that rise to the top (and this applies to many organisations) that need to be put through the ringer!

Maybe the change to stop ATO interest charges on debt being deductible will help. Some taxpayers have seemed happy for ATO to finance their building of assets - like they do with loans from financiers/banks.

Just watched Titan doco on Netflix....ringing bells!

I wonder if those upset by factoring in unrealised gains (by looking at asset value) will also suggest that any asset test should be excluded from other govt benefit testing.

So if your going to play big backs no matter what, that team needs flexibility...those players that can swing to be a forward generally. But mid-sized, who have quickness at ground level and enough presence in the air, are essential now that many teams have smaller forward lines.
May 31, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Another small forward line is Melbourne...Dockers had the big 3, and Ryan ends up on someone like Pickett! Pickett can take anyone apart on his day...but against a slower opponent like Ryan, it is going to be his day.
May 31, 2025 at 1:28 AM
I saw Hawks "manage" Barass early this season but they played last night v Pies. He's fine if enough pressure up the ground to force the bomb into forward line (intercept marks) but if not, hold onto your hats!
Pies v Dockers and Hawks...Elliott goes crazy. He's a tough match up,but not lumberer.
